Thank you for considering the Mosher Alumni House for your meeting, event
or reception. Our staff is committed to making your event a memorable experience
in one of UC Santa Barbara’s premier event venues. The following policies
are meant to ensure that your event is a successful one and that the Mosher Alumni
House is maintained in a condition that its donors and alumni can be proud of.

Rates are subject to change. They are for the time designated. The MAH is available
from 8 a.m.-11 p.m. Monday-Saturday, and noon-8 p.m. on Sunday. Events that exceed
the rental time agreement may be charged extra costs. Events outside of normal
business hours Monday-Friday from 8-5 p.m. will require a Mosher Alumni House
staff person present. Additional charges may be added for events outside of normal
business hours. Some events may require a special damage/performance deposit.
All events involving food or beverages will require a $250 damage/custodial deposit.
Preference in rental rates and reservations is given to lifetime members of the
UC Santa Barbara Alumni Association.
Reservations: Reservations may be made for MAH through Dec.
31, 2007. Reservations for 2008 are subject to rate and availability changes.
At the time of the reservation the user agrees to sign acknowledgement of MAH
Policies. Non-UCSB Alumni Assn. groups or Non-UCSB Departments must place a 25%
deposit for the rental space. This deposit is non-refundable if the event is
cancelled less than 14 days prior to the reserved date.
Payment: All rental fees are due prior to the event.
Alumni Association may recover reasonable expenses in the event of insufficient
fund check.
Food and Beverage: The MAH does not provide food and beverage
services. All food and beverage services must be brought in by an authorized
and insured catering operation. Campus catering services are available from the
University Center, the Faculty Club and Dining and Conference Services. Due to
health codes, no food may be brought into the MAH facility with the exception
of wedding cakes, nuts and mints. In addition, no non-consumed food item may
leave a catered event.
Alcohol Service Policy: The serving of alcohol at the Mosher
Alumni House must comply with UC Santa Barbara alcohol service regulations as
well as regulations provided by the state Alcohol Beverage Control department.
Food service is required for all events where alcohol is served. Any event involving
students where alcohol is served requires conformance to ABC rules. At the discretion
of MAH staff alcohol service may be suspended at any time inside MAH. All guests
are required to have valid I.D. at events where alcohol is served. Unused supplies
of alcohol must be removed from MAH at the conclusion of any event and opened
bottles of alcohol must be discarded at the end of the event. Alcohol may only
be served from cans and bottles. Alcohol may not be served after 11 p.m.
Music: All music groups performing at the MAH must be approved
by the MAH event manager prior to being booked. Music must end by 11 p.m. DJs
and music groups are required to set up and take down all their equipment.
Service: The MAH will provide tables, chairs, buffets and
other service equipment for an event. The House provides general set up and clean
up (with the exception of decorations brought in to an event). Excessive set-up
will require a $40 per hour set up fee. Table linens are required for all events
and can be provided at an additional cost by MAH.
Decorating Policy: No posters, charts, signs, decorations,
electronic devices or any other item may be attached to walls, doors, pillars,
stairways or hung from ceiling or light fixtures. No glitter, table sprinkles,
cascarones, or confetti is allowed inside MAH. The throwing of rice, birdseed,
silly string, soap bubbles or confetti is not allowed. All candles must be enclosed
by glass and no open flames are allowed inside or outside MAH. The Mosher Alumni
House is a non-smoking facility and smoking is not permitted anywhere in the
building. Charges will be assessed for any damage to the MAH or its furnishings
as a result of an event rental.
Liability: The MAH does not accept responsibility for damage
to, or loss of, any merchandise, audio visual equipment, computers, personal
belongings or other items that are left in the MAH or in the parking areas surrounding
MAH following an event. The MAH will not take responsibility for the storage
of valuable items before, during or after an event. Liability insurance may be
required for specific types of events at MAH. Please be sure to review the damages/loss
section of the MAH venue contract. The MAH assumes no responsibility for the
supervision of children at any time while the facility is in use. Any non-University
persons under 18 must be accompanied by an adult at all times while inside the
MAH. Lack of supervision of children inside the MAH can result in the immediate
suspension of a rental agreement.
Fire, Safety and Security: All renter’s electrical
equipment hookups will be made with the prior approval of MAH staff. All renter’s
electrical equipment should be properly wired and shall comply with all
university and state regulations. Animals are not permitted in MAH unless they
are guide dogs for the blind or companion dogs for the deaf. Bicycles should
not be brought into the MAH. Designated bicycle racks are available outside Campbell
Hall. Renters are barred from entering designated staff areas on the second and
third floors of MAH, including conference rooms on the west end of the building.
Any special security requirements for events should be reviewed by the University
Police Department.
The Executive Director of the UC Santa Barbara Alumni Association has the
right to suspend any rental that is deemed to be a threat to the health and safety
of campus members, conflicts with the mission of the campus or is disruptive
to the operation of the MAH. University facilities are not available to organizations
or individuals who discriminate on the basis of race, religion, national origin,
ancestry, age, disability or sexual orientation.
Parking: Guest parking can be obtained on the UC Santa Barbara
campus. Arrangements can be made for pre-paid or VIP parking by contacting the
Parking Services office. A loading dock is available at the rear of the MAH.
