Archaeologist
UCSB Research Archaeologist Anabel Ford has spent
over a decade unearthing and conserving the Maya cultural
site El Pilar in Central America. Her work has shed
much light on living patterns of a culture that thrived
for 1,700 years.

Lifetime Achievement
Jack E. Dixon
Ph.D. 1971
Chemist
His pioneering work on the biological chemistry of
cells has won Jack Dixon numerous awards and other
honors, including membership in the National Academy
of Sciences. His work at the University of Michigan
Medical School has implications for understanding
cancer and other diseases.

Mayville "Doc" Kelliher
B.A. 1934
Lifelong Gaucho Supporter
Long after he retired as UCSB athletic director, "Doc"
Kelliher continued to remain active in university
affairs, providing service in support of Alumni Association
activities and the Gaucho Athletic Hall of Fame. His
interest and continuing presence at events provides
a link across decades to help keep alumni connected
to ther Alma Mater.
