Distinguished Alumna Award
Anabel Ford
B.A. 1974, MA 1976
Ph.D. 1981

Archaeologist

UCSB Research Archaeologist Anabel Ford has spent over a decade unearthing and conserving the Maya cultural site El Pilar in Central America. Her work has shed much light on living patterns of a culture that thrived for 1,700 years.


Lifetime Achievement
Jack E. Dixon
Ph.D. 1971

Chemist

His pioneering work on the biological chemistry of cells has won Jack Dixon numerous awards and other honors, including membership in the National Academy of Sciences. His work at the University of Michigan Medical School has implications for understanding cancer and other diseases.

Mayville "Doc" Kelliher
B.A. 1934

Lifelong Gaucho Supporter

Long after he retired as UCSB athletic director, "Doc" Kelliher continued to remain active in university affairs, providing service in support of Alumni Association activities and the Gaucho Athletic Hall of Fame. His interest and continuing presence at events provides a link across decades to help keep alumni connected to ther Alma Mater.

Peter Jordano
Gaucho Athletics Supporter/Businessman

Santa Barbara businessman Peter Jordano is an active member of the UCSB community. For twenty years he has served as a Trustee of the UCSB Foundation. He has been a major support of UCSB athletics and was mayor of UCSB's 1984 Summer Olympics village.

Ralph Nair
Professor Emeritus

With a UCSB history extending over more than six decades, Professor Emeritus Ralph Nair has a long list of contributions to the campus. These include major work in etablishing emeriti associations, chair of the academic senate, professor in the Graduate School of Education, and director of the Office of Relations with Schools.


Teaching Award
Gene Lucas '73
Chemical Engineering

A faculty member in Chemical Engineering since 1978 and associate dean in the College of Engineering, Gene Lucas has won numerous teaching awards already. He has been a mentor and model to both students and colleagues on collaborative learning.
