Regional Career Counselors

The UCSB Alumni Association has special fee agreements with individual career counselors in California and throughout the United States. Through these agreements members of the UCSB Alumni Association receive a 20% reduction in the counselor's standard rates by presenting their membership card at the time of service.

The counselors have been approved by counseling professionals who work closely with UCSB Alumni Career Services. The Alumni Career Services advisory committee reviews the roster annually. All counselors are certified and have filed their credentials with the Association. The Association offers the names of several counselors so that members have options in choosing a career counselor with whom they feel compatible. A brief initial phone call to a counselor is an opportunity to ask them for such key information as:

Their approach to career counseling (method, perspective, values, etc.)
Any area of counseling in which they specialize
Their standard fee for initial consultation, if any
Their standard fees for follow-up meetings
Their availability for new clients

Based on the results of phone inquiries, a member may choose to follow up in person with whichever counselor(s) seem appropriate.

The UCSB Alumni Association provides them as an educational service, not a placement service, to help alumni find career assistance in their particular geographical area. Any use of the referral information is confidential to the user. Counselors give the Association no information regarding the services or sessions a counselor may provide to individual clients.
