Perched on the flanks of Figueroa Mountain, Sedgwick Reserve sweeps down form an elevation of 2,300 feet to 800 feet and contains whole creeks from beginning to end. Tens of thousands of oak trees grow in dense woodlands rarely found on public land. There are also savannah and grasslands, coastal sage scrub, streamside eco-systems and unique wildlife and bird corridors. The region has a rich Native American heritage, and at least one Middle Chumash village (1,500 to 2,000 years old) rests on site.
Alumni will have the opportunity to enjoy one of several docent led hikes ranging from a moderate to a more challenging level of difficulty on May 17, 2008 at 9:00am. Pack a lunch to enjoy at the end of the hike or order one when you RSVP! Due to limited parking at the reserve carpooling is strongly encouraged. |
