What is UCSB First?UCSB First is an initiative sponsored by the UC Santa Barbara Alumni Association to assist our students in identifying and assisting campus organizations in need of support. The goal is to raise awareness among student organizations of the varied needs of our campus community and to instill in our future alumni a culture of philanthropy. What is the UCSB First Committee?
The purpose of this committee is to increase awareness of campus philanthropy by coordinating a number of events, initiatives, and marketing campaigns.
Are you a student interested in any of the following?

- Making a change in the lives of thousands of current and future upcoming students?
Our campus now receives less than one-third of its overall budget from the state of California. More than a third of our support comes from private sources. As state support drops, UC Santa Barbara will increasingly need private gifts to maintain its status as one of the premier educational institutions in the U.S. and the world.
How does it work?
Student organizations seeking fundraising ideas or deserving campus enterprises can contact the Alumni Association at 893-2612 and obtain contact information. There are numerous UC Santa Barbara efforts that need philanthropic support. The Associated Students Community Affairs Board has for many years been a clearing house for volunteer opportunities working with the non-profits that serve the homeless, children, seniors and the disadvantaged. In recent years, as many as 6,000 UC Santa Barbara students served as volunteers in organizations listed by the CAB. They can be reached at their office in UCEN 2523 or their Volunteer Action Center at 893-4296. UCSB First Committee At Work
The UCSB Alumni Association invited local alumni and friends to the Mosher Alumni House to attend the Annual Gaucho Holiday Gathering, on December 8th. In the spirit of the holiday season, alumni were asked to support our students and contribute to the UCSB Associated Students Food Bank, a program directly addressing student needs such as food supplies, toiletries, and information on additional resources. With the help of our generous alumni, and the UCSB First Committee's ongoing campus philanthropy outreach, the A.S. Food Bank raised $545!
