UC Santa Barbara Offers Admission to 21,557 for Fall 2009 UCSB has offered a place in its fall 2009 entering class to a total of 21,557 high school seniors. The prospective UCSB freshmen were selected from a total of 44,692 applicants – the second largest applicant pool in UCSB history. The campus expects its fall 2009 entering class to number about 4,100. |

The UCSB Alumni Association Scholarship Fund (AASF) is an endowed fund that will benefit current UCSB students. Initial scholarship funds will be available for the fall quarter of 2009. 100% of the money donated to the AASF will go to benefit current UCSB students! As part of UCSB Reads program, which is focusing on the Dalai Lama's "Ethics in the New Millenium," Mark French will host a free panel discussion on ethics from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday, April 25, in the UCSB University Center's Flying “A” Room. Panelists will discuss the possible impact of the Dalai Lama's thoughts on their current (or past) professions. Panelists may include former UCSB women's basketball coach Mark French - ethics in intercollegiate athletics; former Assemblywoman Hannah-Beth Jackson - ethics in government; Montecito Bank & Trust's Judy Guillermo-Newton - ethics in banking; and journalist John Zant - ethics in the media. Futuristic Marine Science Teaching Facility - Ground will be broken in August at UCSB for the new Ocean Science Education Building, which will house the Outreach Center for Teaching Ocean Science (OCTOS) and incorporate the educational outreach programs of UCSB's Marine Science Institute (MSI) and the Channel Islands National Marine Sanctuary (CINMS). |
