Alumni Digital Library Program for Members |
| We are pleased to announce
a new Library benefit for Alumni Association members. UC's California
Digital Library is offering access
to the ProQuest Research Library space to Association members. ProQuest is
an electronic data service featuring thousands of online journals and magazines
covering a wide array of subjects. |
|
How do I get an access code? |
|
In order to ensure that the ProQuest Research Library is offered as an exclusive
benefit to Alumni Association members, every person who uses the database must
obtain an access code. |
|
Previous to obtaining your access code, each member of the Alumni Association
must submit the Online Personal Use Agreement
Form as an acknowledgement of
your agreement. You
will receive a response email that will include your access code to the digital
library. |
|
Remember, you must be a member of the UCSB Alumni Association to be granted
access to these exclusive journals. |
If you are not yet a member,
you may join the Alumni Association and receive all the membership benefits,
including access to the Alumni Digital Library.

Association. |
| What is included? |
ProQuest Research
Library is a searchable collection of more than 2,000 full-text online
journals and magazines. Most provide coverage beginning 1992- (or 1995- at the
latest) and with access to full-text or text and graphics of covered articles.
|
|
|
| (Note: The titles included
provide a very good basic research collection. This resource can be supplemented,
as needed, with the more extensive online services available by visiting the
Library.) |
| What does it cost? |
| The service is free to eligible
users. |
| Are there limits or conditions? |
| Our contract stipulates that
the purpose of access to the service is only for personal use and that users
will not unduly exploit the resource by using it for commercial purposes or systematically
downloading portions of the file. Therefore we will be requiring all users indicate
agreement to these terms before an account password can be provided. |
| How do I use Online Library
Resources? |
| Once you have submitted an "Alumni
Digital Library Request Form and User Agreement," we will email you your ProQuest access
code, the Web address of the service, and other access information. That is all
you will need. |
| (Please save the email message
with your account information for future reference.) |
| Point your Web browser to
the address we provide and enter your access code in the "barcode" box
and click the "Connect" button. You will start in "Basic Search" mode,
but "Advanced Search," "Topics" and "Publications" tabs
at the top of the screen provide additional functions. |
