Summer 2010
Dear UCSB Alumni and Friends,
Late summer is one of my favorite times of year, as I’m always excited to announce the upcoming Gaucho Getaways destinations. Details for 2012 departures are on our updated website, which for most trips among new features, now provides a registration form.
For those who missed out on Egypt last year, we are headed back in 2012, with an added opportunity to engage in discussion with locals about the impact of last year’s events.
Cuba in 2012! The UCSB Alumni Association has received its People-to-People license from OFAC and will sponsor one-and two-week programs. LAX and SFO are now gateways making air transit more efficient.
Our focus on people-to-people in 2012 also includes our Authenticity in Greece. Your host, an acclaimed guide and expert on Byzantine and Classical Greece, takes you to visit family and friends, teaches you basics of the Greek language, shops the farmer’s market with you to help you select produce for your cooking class, and introduces you the antiquities and life in Greece as lived by the locals.
Travel the Celtic Lands in the company of and enjoy lectures by professor Dwight David Eisenhower II, grandson of General and President Dwight D. Eisenhower, and historian Celia Sandys, granddaughter of Prime Minister Winston Churchill.
But wait! There’s more for 2012 including but not limited to India, Eastern Europe, Germany, Russia, Brazil, Galapagos, Morocco and France. I hope you enjoy checking out our website so not to miss any of these amazing travel opportunities. Of course, please contact me if you have questions or desire to register and join us on a future Gaucho Getaways.
Warmest regards from Santa Barbara,
