The Mosher Alumni House
|About the Mosher Alumni House:
Designed by award-winning Barry Berkus '55, The Mosher Alumni House is at the formal entrance to the campus on Mesa Road, which gives the building immediate and enduring prominence.
This location is convenient and easy to find for visitors. The striking building, with a circular center structure, provides a vital connection between UC Santa Barbara and the Alumni Association and the community.
The alumni house is a collection of intimate and larger meeting spaces that will accommodate a wide variety of gatherings -- receptions, lectures, meetings, and interviews. Located at the heart of the campus, the Mosher Alumni House spaces, many named for alumni who helped make the building possible, serve both campus and community needs.
The distinctive facility offers 24,000 square feet of event spaces, many connecting with outdoor terraces. It has three main levels -- the Garden, Plaza, and Vista Levels -- with a rooftop Sky Terrace crowning the structure.
Garden Level - Ground Level
The Garden Level will allow for future expansion of offices and meeting rooms. An entrance plaza on the Garden Level connects with an outdoor stairway that leads visitors up to Whalen Plaza. The Garden Level entrance has an elevator, which can take visitors to the event spaces on the upper floors.
Plaza Level - Second Floor
With floor-to-ceiling windows, the Plaza Level’s reception foyer leads directly to a library, which is housed in the circular portion of the building. To the left of the foyer, the Plaza Gallery will houses display cases containing highlighting distinctive UC Santa Barbara alumni, as well as UC Santa Barbara's past and future.
-Whalen Plaza, Miller McCune Library, Alumni Hall, and Mellichamp Terrace are located on the Plaza Level.
-The Facility Manager can be found in the office suite next to the elevator.
Vista Level - Third Floor
A staircase leads to the foyer of the Vista Level. A bridge leads into the circular Haughton Living Room and its panoramic views. Also on this level are the Henley Board Room, Kirby Terrace and Vista Gallery, which features UC Santa Barbara alumni.
Miller Sky Terrace - Rooftop
The dramatic Miller Sky Terrace offers a 360-degree vista of campus, mountains, Goleta Beach and the Santa Barbara Channel.
