The Ed Hass Memorial Award in Computer Science has been established by the Hass family in memory of their son, Ed. Ed Hass was an undergraduate student in the computer science department in the early 70's when he died tragically.
Applicants must be UCSB juniors enrolled for the following academic year. The applicants must have a declared major in computer science with a minimum 3.0 GPA in that major. Financial need will be considered as one criterion for the award. Two awards will be presented each year.
The recipients will be awarded two $1,000 honorariums during their senior year. One honorarium at the beginning of the fall quarter and another honorarium at the beginning of the winter quarter, for a total of $2,000 during the seniors' academic year. The recipients must remain in the program throughout their senior year while maintaining a minimum 3.0 GPA in a computer science major.
