Russell A. Buchanan Award for History Major |
| In 1974, the UCSB Alumni Association established
the Buchanan award in honor of Dr. A. Russell Buchanan, who for 35 years dedicated
his efforts and energy toward the growth and progress of UCSB and the education
of its students. |
During his tenure as a Professor of History,
Dr. Buchanan also served as
Acting Dean of Men
Acting Dean of the Liberal Arts Division
Chair of the Social Science Department and,
Vice Chancellor of Academic Affairs |
| The Buchanan Award is presented to a
graduating senior majoring in History or History of Public Policy, for superior
scholarship, undergraduate achievement, and potential for graduate research and
continued success in the field. |
