Cadi Fung '06 - After graduating in 2006, Cadi Fung moved to
Tampa, FL for an internship with the Clearwater Marine Aquarium working with
dolphins and river otters. Currently, she trains a variety of domestic and exotic
animals and performs in the show Critter Castaways at Busch Gardens Tampa Bay.
She plans on attending graduate school in the future to study marine mammal behavior
and bioacoustics. Her favorite memories of UCSB include hanging out in the tectonic
workroom and camping with her geology classmates.

Exploring the Contributions
of Walter Capps to the Study of Religion - Fri. May 9 & Sat. May
10, 9am, McCune Conference Room, 6020 Humanities and Social Sciences Bldg. -
In the course of his more than thirty-year academic career at UC Santa Barbara,
Walter Capps made a major contribution to the establishment of religious studies
as a discipline. This two-day international conference brings to campus a number
of his students and colleagues who are now at various points in their careers
and who have incorporated his legacy into their own research and teaching. Conference

Prof. Helgerson,
Beloved English Professor, Passes Away - A member of the English
department faculty for 35 years, his academic career was marked with a variety
of honors. A tribute to
Professor Helgerson is posted on the English Department's website click
here to view. A fund for graduate students has been established
in his honor. Donations can be made to
"The UCSB Foundation" and indicated "for the English Dept. Richard
Helgerson Graduate Achievement Award fund" and sent to Joni Schwartz in
the English Department. A memorial service to celebrate his life will be
held on May 23rd from 4-6pm at the Faculty Club.

Banquet will be held
at 7 p.m. June 6, 2008, at Corwin Pavilion. A no-host
reception begins at 6:15 p.m. Tickets are $80 individual, $700 for a Reserved
