Commencement 2014

Over 5,700 graduates became life-long Gauchos last month at eight ceremonies celebrating the academic and other achievements of the UC Santa Barbara student body. Chancellor Henry T. Yang shook the hand of each and every graduating student from the College of Engineering, the College of Letters and Sciences, the College of Creative Studies, the Bren School of Environmental Science & Management and the Graduate Division.

Although the weekend was one of celebration, Chancellor Yang began each ceremony with a remembrance of the six students who lost their lives in Isla Vista three weeks before and referenced the scholarship funds that have been established in their memory. The Chancellor also expressed his gratitude that the injured students, some of whom participated in commencement events, have recovered or are well on their way to doing so.
